Oh , I know, it’s becaUSE THE GODDAMN MARKET IS OVERSATURATED and basically all the phones are indistinguishable in specs and it’s impossible to tell if they’re good until it’s in your hands and being used.
Anyways I’m using my tax return to treat myself to a new phone and I’m saddened that the entire market has abandoned home buttons in favor of ALL THE SCREEN

Just buy a Pixel 3a yo.

I was worried about the loss of the home button, but honestly I haven’t missed it at all on my Galaxy S10. The software button and gestures do actually work well. I don’t think the market is over-saturated , but I do agree there could be a bit more differentiation in the space.

I can understand the pain. I'm looking to get a new phone to replace my Galaxy S8. Not sure what to get anymore. I am thinking of just getting the iPhone 11.

I just get the cheapest half-decent thing on Kijiji. Currently have a few-year-old Samsung J3 Prime running Android 8...does everything I need it to do, not really slow at all. Was $50. :)

It’s super easy if you just buy an iPhone.

I don’t buy top-of-the-line phones because they’re always rushed to the market and full of issues. I find the sweet spot for q uality is the $3-400 range. My last two phones have been Galaxy A models (Samsung’s mid-range) and they’ve been rock solid.

The line of phones my current phone comes from had seventeen different models last year. Seventeen. And that’s just the mid-range line from one manufacturer.

I dont miss my physical home button at all. However, I would miss my headphone port.

I would miss a back button more than anything. On screen or physical is no different realistically. I simply can’t operate an iPhone when I try to use one. Switching between apps and navigating back and forth is impossible when used to Android.

You forgot to add that they’re all too damn expensive too.

I miss the fingerprint unlock. I have a bit of lazy eye and sometimes the facial recognition is a real pain, but the phone is too big to reach the passcode buttons with one hand. Thumbprint just made everything so much faster.

I have an A50. It was cheap, works dandy. But no home button. It has side buttons, which are the worst part.

I’ve had the same pair of earbuds for six years now and t hat’s not about to change, dammit.

The one I miss is the menu button. Not because it was strictly necessary, but because I have one app that relies on it (and probably isn’t getting updated). The S10 was actually an improvement in this regard initially because instead of long-pressing the back button to get the menu, the on-screen menu bar could just show an extra menu button. Unfortunately the most recent version of Android killed the soft button, and the long-press access .

This is probably the best answer. That phone is a screaming bargain. No flagship CPU, or super fancy build, but solid specs and performance, no bloatware, an absolutely killer camera and at a price that’s pretty much impossible to argue with.

My S9+ does this pretty elegantly with the sensor on the back. It can also be used as a scroll wheel. I've never even used the facial recognition

$600 is a bit too dear.

I once had the same pair of Apple earbuds for 8+ years, until they ceased to work perfectly when I accidentally bent the plug. After that, I was disappointed to learn that they’d added an extra bit to the earbuds that weakens the design so the earbuds that had proven to be so reliable are no longer sold... Still, I figure that if I’m just really careful with that one bit, I can get the new earbuds to last a similarly long time.

At this point I think I’m com mitt ed to buying Apple products. Yes, they’re expensive and not necessarily that much better than the competition. But they’re what I’m used to and familiar with using, dagnabit, and they seem to last pretty long if you take care of them. So it’s not that I’m a fan of Apple products, it’s just that I know from experience that they will get the job done, and I’m too hopelessly clueless about technology to have any desire to try something else...

Got mine for $450. 128gb internal then added 512gb micro ad. Standard headphone jack. Not much bigger than my pixel 1 but way bigger screen and much newer things. But yeah, for $690 I wouldn't.

A refurbed S10e is under $400 on amazon

I actually just got one to replace my aging Galaxy S5 a week ago, and it’s amazing how much faster and more responsive everything is. I got it over the S10 because it has a flat screen instead of that curved BS. All it gives up to the full S10 is an extra telephoto lens camera on the back, and an on-screen fingerprint reader which, from what I’ve read, is finicky anyway.

Sd not as, and $600 not $690. Tired. Can't edit post.

And of course I’d recommend your store. To someone I don’t like.

Got one for $240 over the holidays. Stellar phone. Doesn’t feel much faster than the phone it replaced but the non-bloated and most up to date software experience is so good it’s amazing.
